The Goals I Want to Achieve in the Next 10 Years

In the next 10 years, I want to work as an IT in a company. I want to get a big salary so that my life can be sufficient. After I have enough money, I will buy a simple and cosy house. And if I already have a house, I will buy a car. Buying a house and a car is a thing that is prioritized by me. After I am well off, have a car, and have a house, then my life will be peaceful. I will enjoy my life, travel before I get married, settle down and have a family.

To achieve my goals, I have to study and work hard to graduate from this university. Right now, I'm working on my thesis. After graduation, I must immediately find a job because the employers don't want long-time unemployed people. I will work hard and serve my company to be liked by my boss and my colleagues. I will continue to learn to always be the best. I will save and be frugal so that my money is enough to buy everything I want, namely a house and a car, etc. I will be dedicated to my only life.

In my opinion, I deserve an A in this Business 2 English subject. Why? Because I love English. From the beginning, the best grades that I ever got were always the English subject. I have participated in English language courses at the University of Indonesia about General English and English Writing. And I also took a TOEFL course at Atma Jaya Catholic University for several months. And thank God, I got the best score among my classmates there. I love English, and if I can go back in time, I would choose the English major instead of Information Technology, because I have mastered English before, but time can’t be repeated and I always thankful of my life.

My Experience as a Gunadarma Student

I entered Gunadarma University in 2014. At that time I did not know which university to enter. At that time I attended the national university examination tests, but I did not pass. And suddenly I was contacted by Gunadarma University and they said I got a scholarship, so I was interested. Then my mother and I came to Gunadarma University, then they immediately registered me as their student. The first day I entered the campus, I attended student orientation. All men must shave their heads bald. At that time because I did not fully shave my head until bald, I was punished by the seniors and they shaved my head carelessly. My hair was so messy. At that time I was very embarrassed, but if I remember it again, it turns out to be funny. Many of my memories on this campus from 2014 to 2019, from stories of friendship, romance, exciting stories, etc. I am happy with my friends here, they are kind and solid. Many of them helped me studying here. Many of them have graduated, yet I am still in college, adding one year because I took a semester off in 2018 to work in Bali. Now I really hope to be able to quickly graduate here because I have been very impatient to graduate and start working, making money and not bothering my parents financially.

TOEFL

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL /ˈtoʊfəl/ TOH-fəl) is a standardized test to measure the English language ability of non-native speakers wishing to enroll in English-speaking universities. The test is accepted by many English-speaking academic and professional institutions. TOEFL is one of the two major English-language tests in the world, the other being the IELTS.

TOEFL is a trademark of the Educational Testing Service (ETS), a private non-profit organization, which designs and administers the tests. ETS issues official score reports, sent independently to institutions, for two years following the test.

In 1962, a national council made up of representatives of thirty government and private organizations was formed to address the problem of ensuring English language proficiency for non-native speakers wishing to study at U.S. universities. This council recommended the development and administration of the TOEFL exam for the 1963-1964 time frame. The test was originally developed at the Center for Applied Linguistics under the direction of Stanford University applied linguistics professor Dr. Charles A. Ferguson.

The TOEFL test was first administered in 1964 by the Modern Language Association financed by grants from the Ford Foundation and Danforth Foundation. In 1965, The College Board and ETS jointly assumed responsibility for the continuation of the TOEFL testing program. In 1973, a cooperative arrangement was made between ETS, The College Board, and the Graduate Record Examinations board of advisers to oversee and run the program. ETS was to administer the exam with the guidance of the TOEFL board.

To the present day, college admission criteria for international students who are nationals of some of the Commonwealth nations exempt them from taking the TOEFL exam. Nations which are part of the English-speaking world (from most Commonwealth realms to former British colonies e.g., Hong Kong SAR or former protectorates of the United States (Philippines, Puerto Rico) where English is the de facto official language automatically grants a TOEFL exemption with some restrictions (e.g., residents of Quebec are required to take TOEFL while the rest of Canada is exempt - also inclusive of Commonwealth nations where English is not an official language e.g., Mozambique or Namibia (English is co-official but spoken by 3% of the population)). However, this does not apply to some Commonwealth nations outside the Anglosphere, such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh etc., even though they may have English as the de facto official language.

SUMMARY
